Photography, for me, is a way to learn about the world, and through that, learn about myself. I’ve been taking self portraits since I could hold a disposable camera, but didn’t realize I could make a living using one (a less disposable one) until my senior year of college. My degree in Visual Anthropology helped me travel to New Zealand and allowed me to study with the Hopi Tribe (my Hopi name is Hon Mana--Bear Girl). These experiences made me thirsty to see more, to open my eyes wider and drink in all there was to experience. I got a masters in photojournalism to help me crystallize the moments, the people, and the emotions I see all around me.
So who am I? A visual anthropologist, a photojournalist, and adventurer. Widen your eyes and see the world through me. Enjoy the view :)
